In addition to our original BBA, the leadership and management talent programme, NUS Business School also offers the Bachelor of Business Administration (Accountancy) (BBA(Acc.), or BBA(A)) programme, following our earlier Bachelor of Accountancy (BAcc) programme (with 6424 alumni from 1967 onwards and forming the backbone of the current leadership of Singapore’s accounting professionals). This programme aims to produce accounting professionals who are not only technically competent but who also have high ethical standards and good business sense, to well prepare them to surmount the
challenges in an ever-changing global economic environment.
The BBA(Acc.) programme is the BBA programme with an extended (i.e., double-weighted) Accounting specialisation: it has 14 Accounting modules and 11 non-Accounting Business (including Accounting-related Finance, Information Technology and Law) modules, plus 5 University-Level modules that may include the likes of real-estate law, real-estate valuation, project control, and rhetoric. Hence, the BBA(Acc.) is also like an Accountancy programme with a broad Business Administration specialization. Thus, our BBA(Acc.) and BBA cannot be paired together as one double degree, although they may separately be paired with another non-Business programme to form a double degree.
The BBA(Acc.) and BBA structures are compared here. Prospective BBA(Acc.) students are welcome via this link. Please also visit about.htm for an expanded perspective on our BBA(Acc.) and BBA programmes.
The Bachelor of Business Administration (Accountancy) has been developed after careful reviews of the Accountancy programmes offered by tertiary institutions in Singapore, U.S. and Australia, as well as those offered by professional accounting bodies such as the ACCA (UK) and CPA Australia. We also benefited from helpful feedbacks of Singapore’s Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority (ACRA) and Institute of Certified Public Accountant of Singapore (ICPAS).
BBA(Acc.) leverages on the structure of the well-established NUS BBA programme that requires all students to complete 15 Foundation Modules before they branch into various specialisations. More than just a Bachelor of Accountancy, our BBA(Acc.) programme’s selection of modules therefore additionally facilitates excellent managerial leadership development within our vibrant and cohesive collegiate community, even for students not yet intending to practise as professional accountants. Students may also benefit from the wellspring of our extensive BAcc alumni network, in addition to our very efficient Career Services.
Students who have successfully completed the BBA(Acc.) programme would be awarded the degree of Bachelor of Business Administration (Accountancy), but may also opt to receive instead the original Bachelor of Business Administration degree.
