The Conservatory offers the Bachelor of Music (Honours) degree, with majors in Performance (Piano and Orchestral Instruments) and Composition. This is a four-year full-time music degree programme with an emphasis on music performance and music academics. The balance of the programme is made up of humanities studies and electives. The curriculum provides a strong foundation for students to continue their artistic development at outstanding graduate schools or become international artists at the highest professional level.

Students must attend a minimum period of two years of studies at the Conservatory to be awarded the Bachelor of Music (Honours) degree by the National University of Singapore. All requirements for the degree must be completed within a maximum of six years of a student’s enrolment.

The Bachelor of Music (Honours) degree programme offered at Yong Siew Toh Conservatory provides comprehensive training in the student’s major study, music theory and history, and ensemble participation. In addition, the broad-based curriculum allows students to pursue their interests in other disciplines offered by the National University of Singapore.

Undergraduate students admitted to the Conservatory must successfully complete the following modules in order to graduate with the Bachelor of Music (Honours) degree

Yong Siew Toh Conservatory offers numerous performance opportunities which form an important element of the Conservatory’s curriculum. Students are presented in solo recitals, large and chamber ensembles, as well as masterclasses by distinguished visiting artists. Students, guided by faculty members and chamber music coaches, perform both on campus at the University Cultural Centre and regularly in Singapore’s major performance venues such as the Esplanade-Theatres on the Bay and the Victoria Concert Hall. The new Conservatory Building ready in 2006 will house a 600-seat Concert Hall.
